Beginner's Guide
Blackjack is one of the easiest casino games to learn. Your main goal is to get a hand total closer to 21 than the dealer's, without going over.
Choose your table and place your bet before the cards are dealt. At kawi777, limits start as low as RM 5 depending on the table type selected.
Both you and the dealer are each dealt two cards. Your cards are fully face-up, while one of the dealer's cards remains face-down. Ace = 1 or 11, face cards (J, Q, K) = 10.
Hit – draw an additional card. Stand – stand with your current hand. Double Down – double your bet and receive one more card. Split – split a pair into two separate hands.
Once you're done, the dealer reveals their face-down card. The dealer must Hit until the hand reaches 17 or higher. The dealer has no strategic choices to make.
You win if your hand total is closer to 21 than the dealer's, or if the dealer busts (goes over 21). A natural blackjack (A + 10) pays 3:2 at most kawi777 tables.
*Payouts vary depending on the table type selected at kawi777.
Basic Strategy
Basic blackjack strategy is a mathematically proven guide to the optimal action based on your cards and the dealer's up card. Follow it to reduce the house edge to its absolute minimum.
| Your Hand Total | Dealer Card 2–6 | Dealer Card 7–9 | Dealer Card 10 | Dealer Card A |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 and below | Hit | Hit | Hit | Hit |
| 9 | Double | Hit | Hit | Hit |
| 10 | Double | Double | Hit | Hit |
| 11 | Double | Double | Double | Hit |
| 12 | Stand | Hit | Hit | Hit |
| 13–16 | Stand | Hit | Hit | Hit |
| 17 and above | Stand | Stand | Stand | Stand |
| A-A Pair | Split | Split | Split | Split |
| 8-8 Pair | Split | Split | Split | Split |
| Pair of 10s | Stand | Stand | Stand | Stand |
Hit = Request an additional card | Stand = Keep your current hand | Double = Double your bet + receive 1 card | Split = Divide a pair into two separate hands
House Edge
Blackjack offers one of the lowest house edges of any casino game, especially when you apply basic strategy correctly.
| Table Type | House Edge | RTP |
|---|---|---|
| Classic (6 Deck) | 0.50% | 99.50% |
| Speed Blackjack | 0.52% | 99.48% |
| Live Dealer Standard | 0.55% | 99.45% |
| VIP Blackjack | 0.45% | 99.55% |
| Blackjack +3 (Side Bet) | 3.60% | 96.40% |
| Perfect Pairs (Side Bet) | 2.10% | 97.90% |
RTP is calculated based on correct basic strategy play. Side bets carry a higher house edge.
All main tables at kawi777 pay natural blackjack at 3:2, giving you the best possible edge. Avoid 6:5 tables — they cost you more in the long run.
When the dealer's face-up card is an Ace, you can buy insurance for half your original bet. It pays 2:1 if the dealer hits blackjack.
The surrender option is available at select kawi777 tables, allowing you to fold and recover half your bet when your hand is particularly weak.
Play up to 5 hands simultaneously in a single round. Maximise your winning opportunities by managing multiple hands at the same time on kawi777.
Tips & Tactics
Basic strategy is mathematically proven. Applying it consistently brings the house edge at kawi777 down to under 0.5% — a significant advantage over the long run.
Insurance looks appealing, but statistically it favours the house. Unless you're counting cards, skip insurance even when the dealer shows an Ace.
A pair of Aces gives you two chances to start with 11, while a pair of 8s gives you two hands starting at 8 — far better than a hard 16. This is a standing rule at kawi777 tables.
A pair of 10s gives you a hand worth 20 — extremely strong. A pair of 5s is better played as a 10 with a double down rather than split into two weak hands.
Decide on the maximum amount you're willing to lose before you start playing. Once you hit that limit, stop for the day — never chase losses by raising your bets.
Kawi777 offers tables starting from as low as RM 5. Use these tables to get comfortable with the pace of play before moving up to higher-limit tables.
Kawi777's welcome and reload bonuses can boost your bankroll. Check the rollover requirements and confirm that blackjack counts toward the wagering calculation before claiming any bonus.
Before playing with real money, use kawi777's free practice mode to get comfortable with basic strategy — no financial risk involved.
